三局上一、二壘有人，歐提茲相中一顆93英哩的紅中速球，一棒將球送出中外野大牆，助紅襪擴大領先差距；這是他本季第32號全壘打，生涯第10個球季至少30轟，也是他生涯第498轟。

僅差2轟，歐提茲就能成為大聯盟史上第27位達成500轟里程碑的球員，他在紅襪效力13年共敲出440支全壘打，則排名隊史第三，前2位分別是亞斯崔姆斯基(Carl Yastrzemski)的452轟以及「打擊之神」威廉斯(Ted Williams)的521轟。

即將滿40歲的歐提茲下半季打擊手感加溫，48場比賽敲出17發全壘打，打擊率從明星賽前的2成31升至現在的2成68，全壘打以及打點都在陣中居冠。

紅襪此役狂敲14支安打，搭配先發凱利(Joe Kelly)5.2局僅失1分的好表現，以6分之差擊落藍鳥，2勝1負的戰績拿下此系列賽。

美聯東區前2名，藍鳥以及洋基今日雙雙落敗，兩隊之間仍購物維持2場勝差。
